Enrico Costa (April 11, 1841 Sassari – March 26, 1909 Sassari) was an Italian writer and journalist.
Costa is considered the highest exponent of the Sardinian historical novel, although not the pioneer. Sardinian themes run through all of his literary works, as his life was almost totally spent in Sassarese banks. He conducted historical research focused on knowledge of and study about Sardinia. His research led him to deal with his city, history, geography (he curated guides of the island), the traditions and customs of the Sardinians.
Among his most important works are Sassari, a monumental encyclopedia concerning the history of the city and among his novels The Mute of Gallura.
