Enterprise Policy Generator (EPG) is a browser extension for Mozilla Firefox that assists in generating policies.json configuration files used by Firefox Enterprise Policies. The extension is intended to simplify the creation and management of policy configurations for system administrators deploying Firefox in managed environments. It supports configuration options for Firefox and Firefox ESR across Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.

The extension is used in enterprise and institutional environments to configure browser settings such as security restrictions, bookmarks, extensions, and privacy-related preferences through Firefox Enterprise Policies. History

Mozilla introduced Enterprise Policies with Firefox 60 in 2018 to provide centralized browser management for organizations. Following this release, Sören Hentzschel developed Enterprise Policy Generator as a graphical interface for generating Firefox policy configuration files. The extension replaced workflows that previously relied on manual editing of JSON files or the discontinued CCK2 Wizard extension.

Version 8.0, released in April 2026, introduced a redesigned backend architecture and updated support for newer Firefox Enterprise Policies. According to the developer, configurations created with versions prior to 7.x are not directly compatible with the new release format.

Features

Enterprise Policy Generator provides a graphical interface for configuring Firefox Enterprise Policies. Features include input validation for policy values, support for multi-value configuration fields, accessibility-oriented keyboard navigation, and export of generated policy files in JSON format. The extension also displays version requirements for supported Firefox policies.
