Eric Michael Lichter (born November 13, 1974, in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American sport player and businessman.

Education

Lichter graduated from Mesa Dobson High School in 1992, where he earned 1st Team All Class 5A football honors as well as winning a district shot put championship in Track and Field.

Career

Eric was a 2-year starter at linebacker for Phoenix Junior College earning 2nd team all Western States Football League (WSFL) despite only playing in 4 games due to injury. He went on to earn a football scholarship to Weber State University (Big Sky Conference) where he was a two-year letter winner and started at linebacker. He graduated in 1996 with a degree in exercise science and lifestyle management after switching from criminal justice.

Fitness and personal training

After graduating, Eric relocated to Columbus, Ohio and began training clients out of Powerhouse Gym. Less than 2 years later, he was offered a lucrative contract to be the personal trainer of two prominent families in Youngstown, Ohio.

Speed Strength Systems, Inc.

In late 1999, with no outside investment, Eric co-founded Speed Strength Systems, Inc.[1] in Euclid, Ohio with local partner Tim Roberston jr. Speed Strength Systems, Inc. grew in 6 years from a start-up to the Midwest’s premier training facility. Speed Strength Systems, Inc. became a known brand and one of the top destinations for NFL & NBA draft preparation as well as collegiate and high school level athletes to train. Eric sold his interest in the company in 2006 to his partner Tim. [2]

Fitness television and media

Eric played the role of fitness / product expert for infomercial products Bio Force & Bio Force Pro[4] and appeared in infomercials [5] promoting the products with former NFL star and Hall of Fame Inductee Curtis Martin, Super Bowl MVP Terell Davis, All Pro Rodney Harrison and Heisman Trophy winner and longtime client Troy Smith.

He also appeared in an infomercial for the Ab Supreme, Ab Glider as well as a short form commercial for the renowned self-defense product Mace.

The Ohio State University

In June 2006 Eric Lichter was hired as the Director of Football Performance at The Ohio State University. During his time at OSU he was a part of 2 BCS National Championship Games, 5 Big Ten Conference Titles, 5 BCS Bowl games, 5 wins over Michigan, 1 Rose Bowl Championship, and 1 Sugar Bowl Championship.[6]

Plus 2 University

Eric returned to coaching in the private sector in 2019 and co-founded Plus 2 University, LLC with The Ohio State University national champion winning and former NFL quarterback Cardale Jones. Plus 2 University is an elite speed training company for athletes that houses world-class technology including four 1080 sprint machines from the 1080 Motion company. Plus 2 University also has a competitive AAU youth club track team as well as training programs for professional athletes down to youth athletes as young as 6 years old. Current Olympic sprinters and Ohio State University record holders Eric Harrison Jr. and Anavia Battle have trained and worked with Eric and the 1080 sprint technology to achieve elite performances in the sport of track and field. 2022 Jim Thorpe Award winning defensive back Coby Bryant from the University of Cincinnati trained for the NFL combine and his pro day at Plus 2 University.

Personal life

Eric Lichter is married to Annemarie Lichter, they have 4 children, Tyler (24), Ava (22), Taurian (14), and Arielle (10), and twin grandsons Ryder (1 month) and Talon (1 month).[7]
