Eritreans in Germany are citizens and residents of Germany who are of Eritrean descent. According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, as of 2016, there are a total 59,800 Eritrea-born immigrants living in Germany. Of those, 28,050 individuals were granted asylum status.[1]
Female Genital Mutilation[edit]
According to the BMFSFJ, of the 10462 women from Eritreans living in Germany in May 2016 without German citizenship, 8683 (83%) were victims of female genital mutilation.[2]
