Ernest Headly Sprague (April 1859–August 20, 1945) was an English architect and teacher.

Biography[edit]

Sprague was born in Islington, London, England. His parents were Henry Sprague, a wine merchant and Susan Headly.[1] In 1892 he married Mary Ann Swain but she died during the birth of their first child. Shortly after he married Edith Blanche Bennett. Together they had eight children.[2] He was a professor of engineering, at the Imperial Chinese Railway College in Shan-Hai-Kuan. Afterwards, he lectured at University College London and at Westminster Technical Institute.[1]

He wrote several technical books as instructional texts for students of architecture and engineering.
