Erwin Schneider or Erwin Hermann Manfred Schneider (born on April, 13 1906 – August 18, 1987[1]) was an Austrian mountaineer and cartographer who is known for being one the first climbers to reach the highest point on Pik Lenin [2] aswell on his work on mapping and exploring the Himalayas in the German-Soviet Alai-Pamir expedition and many others.

Schneider was born in St. Joachchimstal, West Bohemia, and went to school in Idrija, Slovenia
