Daabo Ayodele Okhiria (born 5 April 1995), is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer known professionally as Esbee the Songwriter.[1]
Early life
Esbee the Songwriter was born in Lagos but hails from Edo state, southern region of Nigeria. He discovered his musical talent in Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, writing music with his classmates and music group R.B.C. By the time he got admission into the University of Benin, Esbee had started producing his own music and for other artistes.[2][1][3]
Career
Esbee the Songwriter began his music career on the 11th of August 2017, with the release of his debut EP: “The Heartache”. The eight-tracked project which features Waye, Gray Jones Ossai and Andre Vibez details his personal experiences with love and heartbreak.[4] . After the release of his debut EP, Esbee pursued his interests in writing for other artistes and is credited as the producer of “Your Love” by Waye[5] [6][7][8]
In 2019, Esbee emerged as first runner up for songwriting on the debut season of Stardom Nigeria (a music reality television show).[9][10][11] He later went on to win 2baba’s Next Up Talent Hunt in the same year as part of a three-man music group called Tboiz. [12][13] Esbee rebranded as Esbee the Songwriter for the release of TBoiz’s debut single “Falling For Me” featuring 2baba, performing the release at 2baba’s “20 Years A King” concerts in Lagos and Abuja[14][15][16]
During the lockdown in 2020, Esbee the Songwriter resumed his solo recording and performing career. Since then, the singer-songwriter has released multiple records under his independent record label, Blackbird Entertainment, including his sophomore EP: The New Moon, released in December of 2021.[17]
