Escapology. is a privately held, U.K. based, retail and e-commerce company that sells luxury furniture, lighting and home decor, through its retail stores and online.[1] Headquartered in Plymouth, Devon, the company manufactures and sells furniture, lighting and home décor.
Escapology. launched in September 2016 by a former financial consultant, Shelley Lincoln and her husband, a former management consultant, Matthew Lincoln, who self-funded the venture. The company's products are sourced from across the globe.
In November 2016, they announced the opening of its first brick & mortar retail location in Plymouth, Devon.[2]
Design Philosophy[edit]
Since inception, Escapology. has sought to distinguish itself through design. The company does not have in-house designers; instead following a model of curation of the best designs from around the world. Through the quality of its designs and the focus on serving, not selling, its customers the company is seeking to make it exciting for people to shop for their home again.
The design philosophy is represented in how stores are laid out. By making them feel more like a home than a store, the company seeks to help people visualise how things would look in their own home.
Escapology has stated it's intention for ethical and sustainable manufacturing of all its products. In January 2020, it launched a program to reduce the amount of recyclable packaging used for its furniture.

In January 2017, the company eradicated the use of plastic bags in its stores and moved to recycled paper bags only. In May 2018, the company launched its first line of fine home fragrance, called Ember, to reflect the use of wood fragrances in its blending.
In October 2019 Escapology launched its first line of luxury bedding made in Guimarães, Portugal. Closely followed in January 2020, by the company expanding into the mattress industry. They promote their "luxury mattress" as not containing memory foam, but rather using wool, coils and cotton.
