Espresso House is the largest coffeehouse chain in the Nordics.[1][2] Founded in Lund, Sweden in 1996 by Elisabet and Charles Asker, it now has over 255 locations throughout Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark.

Espresso House was owned by the British venture capital company Palamon Capital Partners until September 2012,[3][4] when the Norwegian venture capital company Herkules Capital [no] bought the chain before selling it to German JAB Holding Company in 2015.[5]

In Norway the chain has become a symbol of gentrification and "commercial monoculture".[6][7][8][9]
