The Ethio-Engineering Group (Amharic: ኢትዮ ኢንጂኒየሪንግ ግሩፕ) is an Ethiopian state-owned heavy industrial manufacturer established in 2020 under Council of Ministers regulation No. 475/2020.[1] It is the successor of the Metals and Engineering Corporation (MetEC).[2]
The enterprise has nine subsidiaries operating in different part of Ethiopia.
History
Ethio-Engineering Group was reestablished in September 2020 under Council of Ministers regulation No. 475/2020. It is the successor of the Metals and Engineering Corporation (MetEC). It has an aim of allowing heavy industries to transform the country to industry-led economy.[3][4]
Ethio-Engineering Group has nine manufacturing subsidiaries that are operating in different parts of Ethiopia. These subsidiaries are:
- Akaki Basic Metal Industry
- Metals Fabrication Industry
- Construction Machinery Manufacturing Industry
- Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Industry
- Power Equipment Manufacturing Industry
- Addis Machineries and Spare parts Manufacturing Industry
- Adama Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Industry
- Ethiopia -Plastics Industry
- Bishoftu Automotive Manufacturing Industry.
On 3 July 2024, Ethio-Engineering Group signed deal with Italian steel firm Danieli Co., Ltd to Nekemte Steel Processing project.[5] In May 2023, the enterprise reported a 101 million birr profit in an audit finding revealed by the Ethiopian Parliament.[6]
