Etrix is the annual computer fest of Loyola School Jamshedpur, organised by the Computer Club. Formerly known as Abacus, this fest has quite a few first of the kind events to its fame.

History[edit]

The foundation stone of the event was laid in the late 1990s when the Computer Club of Loyola School organized Abacus, the first I.T. Quiz in Jamshedpur. Since then, the event has evolved to greater standards. eTrix was held for the first time in 2007 as a one-of-a-kind inter-school event. Due to its grand success[citation needed], eTrix 2008, with its motto as "Where Geeks Thrive", went national with schools from all over India participating in it.

2009[edit]

The event was held from on 11 and 12 November on the inter-school level with a number of renowned schools participating. This year, the Computer Club of Loyola School, under the guidance of its moderators provided greater opportunities for the youth with the inclusion of a number of new events.

This was the grandest avatar of the event with the competition going nationwide . The IT quiz, Abacus had a great coverage[citation needed] with the qualifiers being a mix of schools ranging from DPS RKPuram et al . The Quiz was hosted by the CEO of Greycaps ,Giri "Pickbrain" Balasubramaniam. Amidst the fierce competition the quiz was won by Rajendra Vidyalaya.

2010[edit]

The event kicked of on 29 October and ended on the 30th.As expected, grand as before,with Loyola almost certainly walking away with prizes.Although the number of events was cut down to 6 the event was still the biggest school event in Jamshedpur.[1] The event saw some quizzing in Abacus, which was held at XLRI Auditorium and conducted by QuizWorks.[2]

The event was held on 4 and 5 November on the inter-school level with a number of schools participating. This year, the Computer Club of Loyola School, under the guidance of its moderators provided greater opportunities for the youth with the inclusion of a number of new events.
