The EuroVoice European Music Contest, or simply the EuroVoice, is a music contest, which was first announced in April 2010 and whose first Finals took place in Athens, Greece on September 23 and 24, 2010. EuroVoice is intended as an annual, interactive, televised music contest, with participants from countries all over Europe, as well as Israel. The first EuroVoice "Eurovoice 2010" was won by Cyprus, with the United Kingdom in second place and Armenia in third.[1]
Participation[edit]
EuroVoice allows anyone of legal age and with legal resident status in one of the countries that are part of Contest Territory to participate by uploading his or her song on the official Contest web site.
Voting[edit]
There are no juries involved in the selection process. All the contestants are classified according to their nationality or place of legal residence and then every visitor of the EuroVoice site can listen to all the songs and vote for the one they prefer. Every voter from every part of the world can vote for every song during this stage. After the voting period finishes the contestants with the highest number of votes from each country advance to the Super Final. Every visitor of the site can vote up to three times per day, but only once for each contestant.
Requirements to the Song[edit]
The duration of the contest song can be up to 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Contrary to the requirements of other popular Music Contests it is allowed for the contestant song to have been publicly performed, broadcast or published on the internet or any other means of publication before the contestant submits it. However, it is forbidden for the contestant song to have been commercially released in any form, by any performer. During the Super Final the entry song is performed half playback, namely with full live vocals and full playback orchestra with no pre-recorded backing vocals on the backing track. There is no restriction in language in which the song is sung. To enter a song in EuroVoice 2010, contestants need to:
- register (no charge, mandatory);
- upload 3–4 photos (no charge, mandatory);
- provide some profile information about the act (no charge, mandatory);
- upload an entry song (no charge, mandatory);
- upload a video of a performance of the entry song;
- create a fan club;
- invite friends to join their fan club.
- provide detailed information about the composer(s) and lyricist(s) of the entry song and, if they are different persons from the contestant, to make sure that they also sign the Contestant Agreement (mandatory).
The entry period for the EuroVoice 2010 is now closed and so is the pre-selection period, and currently the prospective Super Finalists are preparing for the Super Final of the contest.
Artist Forum[edit]
The EuroVoice official web site operates around the year as an advanced interactive artist forum, where artists from all over Europe can open a personal page and upload their songs, videos, images and personal information, even if they do not wish to participate in the contest. Artists are free to use the Contest Web Site as a place to simply promote their music. The total number of songs currently uploaded in the Web Site is 1.417, and the number of uploaded videos is 331 and the number of hosted artists currently is 847, from a total of 44 different countries.
