History[edit]
Founded in 1972, current owners Robert Senior and Trevor Fenwick bought the company in 1974.[6][7] The firm started as a publisher of statistical reference guides and marketing directories. During the 1980s, the company moved to add fast-moving consumer goods and broader economic trend reporting. By 1987, the company extended its business and added a consulting service. The company went international by opening an office in Chicago in 1993 and a Singapore office in 1998. Euromonitor International launched a cross-country comparable fast-moving consumer goods market research database which became their online subscription product, Integrated Market Information System (IMIS) and a category-level database Global Market Information Database (GMID) in 1999. [8] IMIS was later replaced in 2007 when a new subscription-based database Passport launched.[9] In 2013, the company won Private Business of the Year by PricewaterhouseCoopers and launched a new business research database exclusive for public and private libraries.[10] In 2014, Euromonitor International was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise International Trade and Tim Kitchin was appointed CEO.[11][12] Euromonitor International partnered with ESOMAR World Research to improve and promote the quality of market research methodologies.[13] Euromonitor International has been named a best company for work/life balance by numerous sources such as Glassdoor, Business Insider and The Daily Telegraph.[14][15][16] The company was awarded the 2016 Luxury Researcher of the year and SIIA CODiE awarded Passport for the best information solution.[17][18] Euromonitor International was awarded the FocusEconomics Analyst Forecast 2018 and continued its international expansion by opening offices in South Korea and Hong Kong. [19][20][21][22]
