EuropaNova is a think tank founded in 2003 and based in Paris and Berlin. The aim of the think tank is to support the path of economic and democratic integration of Europe.
History
EuropaNova was founded in 2003 by Guillaume Klossa and Enrico Letta.[1] After the failure of the initiative for a European Constitution due to the rejection by referendums in the Netherlands and France, EuropaNova tries to develop concrete projects and initiatives to further the development and integration of Europe.
Activities
Every year, the think tank organises a Europe Conference, which brings together people of diverse origins and perspectives.[2][3]
Furthermore, EuropaNova organises a "Young Security Conference" together with many partners such as the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. This format has existed since 2020 and aims to promote a new generation of innovative foreign and security policy thinkers and provide impulses for a common European policy.[4]
The think tank and its members try to present the positive sides of both the historical European Integration and the prospects of future Integration in the French press.[5][6][7] EuropaNova publishes on its own interviews and other contributions to European current affairs, for example with the political scientist Ulrike Guérot.[8]
Another focus of the think tank is to organise event formats together with various partners that reach a European public.[9] In 2012, for example, EuropaNova organised an event with Sciences Po Paris and the newspaper "Le Monde", which aimed to establish the topic of European integration as the most important issue in the French presidential election campaign. The then candidates François Bayrou, François Hollande, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Nicolas Sarkozy took part. But also other high-ranking politicians, such as French politicians Michel Barnier and Franziska Brantner.[10]
