The European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) is a scientific organization founded in 1993. It groups together 23 European associations.[1] focusing on computational methods in science and technology. The mission is to promote the cooperation between universities, research centers, and industries in the field of numerical methods and computer simulations in engineering and applied sciences. Among the local associations we mention the French SMAI[2], the Italian SIMAI[3], the German GAMM[4], the Greek GRACM[5], and the Dutch NMC[6]

The general ECCOMAS Congress happens every 4 years, while thematic conferences follow a two-year cycle (30 thematic conferences in 2023).

Awards[edit]

ECCOMAS awards every 2 to 4 years 3 medals, 2 young investigator awards, and 2 PhD awards:

  • Euler medal[7]
  • Prandtl medal[7]
  • Ritz-Galerkin medal[7]
  • O. Zienkiewicz young investigator award[8]
  • J.L. Lions young investigator award[8]
