Eva B is a Pakistani hip-hop female rapper and singer. She comes from a Balochi family, and writes and sings mostly Balochi music. She is known for her appearance in Coke Studio 14 with her song Kana Yaari, and her style of singing with a veil on her face.[1]

According to Eva B, she started her journey in 2014, after being inspired by Eminem.[2] Just after the start of her career, she was not allowed to continue music due to family pressures.[2] She restarted her career in 2019, with her song "Gully Girl" (girl's power) at Pakistani music streaming platform Patari.[3] After "Gully Girl" Eva B was allowed to sing with the condition that she will keep the veil on her face. She says, "I am comfortable with the veil and it's my identity. My brother is no longer uncomfortable with my music".[4] She sang on the YouTube channel with small-scale productions. Her song "Mukhtasir Batain", "Quarantine Aunti", Qalam Bolega (The Pen Shall Speak), and "Khusnawees" were released in 2020.[5][6] She collaborated with a few notable singers. She sang a duet with other Pakistan singers in 2021 including "Tera Jism merey Marzi" (your body my will) with Ali Gul Pir,[7] "Anjanni Rahon pe" (traveling on unexplored ways) with Muhammad Baloch, and "flex your moves" with Anas Baloch.
Despite her initial successes, her major breakthrough came when was contacted by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, director of Coke Studio 14, in which she sung the song Kana Yaari.[8][1]
Name[edit]
According to Eva B, “Eva” is a tribute to the first woman on Earth, Eve. Like the latter, she too is a first in the female rapping community in the country. In a 2021 interview, she explained to the outlet[which?] that the added letter B is a nod to her Balochi identity.[9]
