Controversy about Russian version of Wikipedia’s article on Evgeny Ponasenkov[edit]

In the last ten-fifteen years Russian official propaganda and anti-scientific approach to all aspects of education, science and culture have spread to Internet resources, such as Wikipedia itself. An example of this bias and disregard for science and systemic treatment of data could be found in the Russian version of this article. Despite the mission of the Wikimedia Foundation “to empower and engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally”[14], the Russian version of this article was locked by its Russian administrators. It is theorized that this was done to actively participate in hounding of Eugene Ponasenkov and his scientific achievements, who for the first time in history of Russian historical science holistically and comprehensively presented the events of the Napoleon’s Russian Campaign[15] [16] [17] and made conclusions that are largely reciprocal from today’s main stream Russian pseudoscientists (former soviet functioners/apparatchiks).
