EvolutionX is a free and open-source operating system for Android smartphones and tablet computers. Joey Huab, also known as Stallix, started the development in 2019. The founder has worked on many other ROMs for years before the project.
His main goal was to create a clean OS as a replacement, mainly for Xiaomi's MIUI software, that gives a similar vibe to the stock Android feeling, but also comes with many additional features.
EvolutionX has more than 100 0000 downloads on its SourceForge page and is now considered the 3rd most popular Android ROM, according to Beebom, one of the leading consumer technology websites.
History
The ROM was based on Pixel Experience, another custom ROM for Android phones. Essential tweaks were added to the project, and it quickly became very popular on XDA, a forum for Android modifications and tech news.
On the 25th of October 2019, EvolutionX reached its highest download count ever, on a single day, 12 166 downloads.
In December 2019, EvolutionX announced its website, https://evolution-x.org, which received multiple updates since then.
Reviews, opinions
According to slant.co[1], EvolutionX is stable, user-friendly, and has high customizability options.
Xtremedroid[2] mentions EvolutionX as "the Fastest and the smoothest custom rom based on Android 10".
Xiaomiauthority[3] says EvolutionX comes "with tons of customization options".
Many tech YouTubers called EvolutionX the most efficient and feature-packed ROM, and it is also loved because of its battery-friendly nature.
Popularity and statistics
According to the EvolutionX website[4], India holds 27% of the total downloads of EvolutionX. It is also very popular in Indonesia, China, Russia, and the United States.
