Mortis is the first mixtape by British musician Brian Weston. It was released on April 19, 2019.
Background[edit]
The mixtape is a concept album, consisting of more pop-oriented tracks and was Weston's first release to not make use of samples from other horror media. It was partly developed during the Bloodlines sessions and was originally to be released as a re-issue titled Severed Bloodlines. This idea was eventually scrapped in favour of releasing a longer mixtape.
Reception[edit]
"Mortis" was released to a mostly negative reception. Criticism was almost universally directed at the change in genre compared to Weston's previous work, making use of more pop and electronic sounds rather than the rock and industrial sounds Weston had previously released. As of 2024, Weston has released no further pop music following this mixtape.
Commercial performance[edit]
"Mortis" was not given a physical wide release. Copies of the mixtape were available in a very limited supply through Weston's Bandcamp page. Sales figures of the digital album were not made public.
