Eyad Al-Hakami (Arabic: إياد الحكمي) is a Saudi poet, born in Jazan in 1988.[1]He has published several poetry collections, including To the Rhythm of Water and I Do Not Know Strangers, Only Their Sadness.[2]Al-Hakami has been recognized with several literary awards and honors, most notably receiving the title and the ceremonial cloak of the Prince of Poets competition in 2017.[3][4]

Education

  • Holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology from Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, awarded in 2023.[5]
  • Obtained a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from California in 2016.[6]
  • Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Information Systems from Jazan University in 2012.[7]

Awards

  • Second place in the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity (2011–2012) in the poetry category for his collection To the Rhythm of Water.[9]
  • Winner of the Youth Poet of Okaz Award and Cloak in 2012.[10]
  • First place and crowned with the title Prince of Poets in the seventh season of the Prince of Poets competition in 2017.
  • Second place winner in the Al-Mu’allaqa program competition (Classical Arabic Poetry category) in 2025.
