Förest

Förest is an Irish rock/metal band formed in Dublin, Ireland in 2020. The band’s lineup consists of founding members: Barra Donovan (Guitar, Vocals, Bass) and Conor Nugent (Percussion). Förest began work on their debut album “Purple River” until it came to a halt when the COVID-19 cases began to rise again in Ireland.
Previous to Förest, Donovan and Nugent were in a short-lived band called Mud Crab. When Mud Crab disbanded, the two musicians decided to form their own band. Mud Crab does not have any output. Förest began to write songs and was hoping to play shows in 2020; this would never happen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the period spent distanced from each other, the two musicians wrote separately, leading to problems when they were reunited in 2021. Nugent’s songs were more fast-paced and influenced by Pop Punk bands such as Blink-182 and Green Day. Donovan’s, on the other hand, were slower, darker, and were influenced by the 90s Seattle bands like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Nirvana.
In May of 2021, Nugent left the band to pursue his own career while still playing with Donovan in a more intense Punk-influenced band. To this day, Donovan and Nugent play in this nameless Punk duo.
