The Dual Automatic Rifle (Spanish: Fusil Automático Doble) is an assault rifle chambered for the NATO 5.56×45mm cartridge, coupled with a "pump-action" type 40 mm grenade launcher in a single package.[1] It is a compact weapon of the "bullpup" configuration, making it suitable as a back-up weapon for armored vehicle crews. It was designed by Salomón Braga Lozo of SIMA Electronica, a division of the Peruvian state-owned SIMA (Spanish: Servicio Industrial de la Marina) shipyards, based in the port of Callao.[2]
The rifle weighs 3.6 kilograms (7.9 lb) and is 32 inches (810 mm) long, including a 20-inch (510 mm) barrel. There is no charging handle, just a bolt catch, much like the SAR 21 on which it was supposedly based. It takes standard M16/M4 type 5.56 STANAG magazines or can accept Beta C-Mags for a light support weapon role.
