FDRMX (First Real Dedicated Music Exchange) is a website designed to provide visitors with the resources to discover music by searching via genre, country, language, and year. It is also referred to as the Encyclopedia of Music. It features original articles, music news, interviews, reviews, and photos from around the world. There are three main components to the FDRMX experience: Eyes, Mouth, and Heart. Each one caters to a specific media outlet within music.[2]
History
FDRMX was founded on June 19, 2013. The concept for FDRMX was described as a music exchange forum, with the goal to provide "premium, high quality content available worldwide." The site was launched July 12, 2013.[3]
FDRMX Eyes
The Eyes of FDRMX features international music videos of premium quality. It explicitly avoids inappropriate materials when selecting music videos to be featured on their site in order to ensure its accessibility to audiences of all ages. It focuses on discovering little-known or independent artists, and distributes "highly professional", new music videos. They've included the videos of artists such as The Big Pink, Laibach, and Miike Snow.[4][5][6][7][8]
FDRMX Mouth
The Mouth of FDRMX features original articles on music news (sorted by genre), interviews with artists and talents from around the world, original reviews of events, albums, singles, and music videos, as well as lyrics and artists’ biographies.[9][10] FDRMX has done reviews for artists such as The Jepettos, as well as music festivals and events like Summer Stage.[11][12][13] The site features exclusive interviews with artists such as Glenn Kotche and Ladi6.[14][15]
FDRMX Heart
This section of the website is dedicated to sharing the Encyclopedia of Music’s revenue statistics and the profiles of its content providers. A percentage of all of FDRMX's advertising revenue goes to charity organizations and content providers.
Availability
FDRMX was initially available in the United States. Within a month of its launch, it became available worldwide.
Content Censorship
Music videos on FDRMX that contain explicit and/or graphic material, including strong religious references, inappropriate language, overtly sexual content, and other controversial materials are not uploaded to FDRMX. Interviews, reviews, and news articles containing profanity may be edited. The censorship goal is to ensure that offensive content will not cause the site to be banned in countries with strict censorship laws.
