FIFA Emergency Committee is an institution of FIFA (the governing body of association football) which deals with all matters requiring immediate settlement in the time frame between the regular meetings of the FIFA Executive Committee.[1]
Structure[edit]
The Emergency Committee consists of the FIFA President as well as one member from each confederation. Its members are appointed by the Executive Committee and are chosen from among its members for a four-year period.
The Emergency Committee meetings are convened by the President. If the committee members cannot be convened in a short time frame, the personal meetings are then substituted by other means of communication. Emergency Committee decisions made are then immediately put into legal effect. The Executive Committee has to be informed as soon as the decisions are passed by the Emergency Committee. All decisions accepted by the Emergency Committee need to be ratified at the next meeting of the Executive Committee. If the President is unable to attend a meeting, the longest serving vice-president available, deputizes. The President is entitled to designate a deputy for members who are unable to attend or have a conflict of interest.
