FV Summer Bay

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The F/V Summer Bay is a fishing vessel that fishes in the Bering Sea off Alaska. It is featured on the Discovery Channel occupational documentary reality TV show Deadliest Catch that documents fishing Alaskan red king crab.[1] As of the start of the 2021 Alaskan red crab fishing season, the captain was "Wild Bill" Wichrowski.[2][3]

History[edit]

The boat was built in 1981.[4]

In summer 2016, Bill Wichrowski purchased the Wassilie B, and renamed it Summer Bay.[5]

The 2017 Alaskan king crab fishing season was the first for Wichrowski on the Summer Bay, which was documented in the 2017 season 13 of Deadliest Catch.[5]

In 2021, the Summer Bay suffered a hole in the hull, filling the forward bilge with water, almost sinking the ship. The incident was documented in Deadliest Catch 2021 season 17.[6]
