Fables are a series of animated cartoons produced in black and white by the Screen Gems studio for Columbia Pictures from 1939 to 1942. This series, along with the Phantasies series, was produced to replace the Scrappy and Krazy Kat series which were declining in popularity. Earlier entries primarily featured Scrappy and Krazy Kat, who were soon discontinued in favor of one-shot cartoons.
