Facebook verification
Introduced in February 2012[1], the Facebook verification system provides the site's readers with a means to distinguish genuine account holders from impostors or parodies. The verified badge appears next to a Facebook Page or profile. It means Facebook has confirmed that the Page or profile is the authentic presence of the public figure or global brand it represents.[2]
