The Faculty of Organization and Informatics (Croatian: Fakultet organizacije i informatike, abbr: FOI) is a faculty of the University of Zagreb. FOI owns two buildings situated in Varaždin, it's main building being a former Jesuit College built during 17th and 18th century. As of 2020, the Faculty employs more than 140 professors and 210 and associates.[1]
The Faculty has two Undergraduate Study Programmes (each lasting 3 years): Information and Business Systems (academic title: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology) and Economics of Entrepreneurship (academic title: Bachelor of Economics), and one Undergraduate Vocational Study Programme: Information technology in Business Application (academic title: Bachelor of Business Informatics).[2]
After receiving a bachelor's degree, students can take part in one of five master's programmes (each lasting 2 years): Economics of Entrepreneurship (academic title: Master of Economics) and four graduate studies in Informatics: Information and Software Engineering, Databases and Knowledge Bases, Business Systems Organization (academic title: Master of Informatics) and Teacher in Informatics (academic title: Master of Informatics in Education).[3]
After receiving a master's degree, students can take part in the postgraduate doctoral study in Social Sciences in the field of Information Sciences and receive the academic title Doctor of Science in the field of Social Sciences: Information and Communication Sciences, PhD. Also, there are three Postgraduate Specialist Study Programmes: Information Age Organizations Engineering and Re-Engineering, Information Systems Security Management and Auditing and Business Systems Management, all of them carrying an academic title of University Specialist.[4]

The Faculty comprises 7 academic departments: Department of Economics, Department of Computing and Technology, Department of Quantitative Methods, Department of Organization, Department of Information Systems Development, Department of Foreign Languages and General Educational Disciplines and Department of Theoretical and Applied Foundations of Information Sciences.[5]
Brief history[edit]
The Faculty of Organization and Informatics was founded on March 7th 1962 as Higher School of Economics. Higher School of Economics became Faculty of Organization and Informatics on December 18th 1974 (today celebrated as Faculty Day). In 1975, the Faculty became part of University of Zagreb. After activating IBM AS/400 donated by IBM Croatia in 1994, FOI became connected to the internet. In 1996, the Faculty launched it's first website. In the year 2006, FOI implemented the Bologna Process.[6]
