Faisal Ahmad Bhatkali Nadwi (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; born 25 May 1975) is an Indian Muslim scholar, researcher, essayist, and author. He is best known for his writings in Urdu and Arabic on Islamic history, Hadith, and Qur’anic studies, and for his long-standing academic service at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow, where he currently serves as a professor of Tafsir and Hadith.[1]
Early life and education
Faisal Ahmad was born on 25 May 1975 in Bhatkal, Karnataka, India, to a Nawayath family known for its scholarly background.[2] He memorized the Qur’an at Madrasa Tahfiz al-Qur’an, Bhatkal, and then joined Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, one of the region’s most prominent Islamic institutions.
In 1995, he completed the ʿĀlimiyyah degree and proceeded to Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, where he earned the Fazilat degree in 1997 after three years of advanced study in Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith, and Arabic literature. He later obtained his M.A. from the University of Lucknow in 2003, and his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) on the Arabic thesis Aʿlām al-Nawāyiṭ — a biographical study of distinguished Nawayath scholars.[3]
Academic career
Since 1998, Faisal Ahmad has been teaching at Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, where he continues to serve as a professor of Tafsir and Hadith.[1] His teaching career reflects the Nadwi tradition that harmonizes classical Islamic sciences with modern intellectual engagement.[4] He has guided numerous students in India and abroad who are now active in Islamic education and research.
Scholarly contributions
Faisal Ahmad Bhatkali Nadwi has written prolifically in both Arabic and Urdu.
