Jamia Islamia (Arabic: جامعة اسلامية) is a university of Islamic learning located in Tengingundi, 5 km from Bhatkal, Karnataka, India and the place is called 'Jamia Abad'. The campus covers 20 acres (8.1 ha), Of the 20 acres, 10.5 acres (4.2 ha) of land were given to the Jamia by the heirs of Mr. S.M. Syed Meera in 1967, 6 acres (2.4 ha) of land were taken on lease from the state government and the rest of the land was purchased.[citation needed]
The school celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012.[1]
Jamia Islamia was venue for several important state and national level events.[citation needed] Notable amongst those was a conference of All India Muslim Personal Law Board held in 2009,[2] and the Muslim World League's educational convention in 2012.[3]
