Falko Fecht is a German economist and professor of financial economics at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.[1] Since 2022, he has been the head of the research center at Deutsche Bundesbank.[2][3]

Career[edit]

Fecht studied economics at the Goethe University Frankfurt, where he later gained his doctorate. He has held visiting research positions at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, European Central Bank, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and Dutch National Bank. Fecht has held the Endowed Chair for Economics of Financial Institutions at the European Business School between 2009 and 2012 and has been a research professor at the Deutsche Bundesbank since 2010.[4] [5]

Research[edit]

In his research, Fecht focuses on the theory of financial intermediation, financial crises and liquidity. He has conducted research on the efficient design of monetary policy instruments, banking regulation and bail-outs. He has published academic papers on the structure of interbank markets and payment systems, their implications for the efficiency and stability of the banking sector, fire sales and financial integration.[6][7][8]

Fecht has served as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Stability and has published and refereed in academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of International Economics and Journal of Banking and Finance.[9]
