Family Drug Support is a nonprofit organization located in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia.[1] Since its foundation in 1997, the organisation has provided support to families and friends affected by drug and alcohol problems[2] in Australia and internationally.[3]

History

The organisation was founded by Tony Trimingham AO CEO, following the death of his son Damien Trimingham to a heroin overdose. The CEO, Tony Trimingham, has written a book, 'Not My Family, Never My Child'[4] about his personal experience with family loss and drug overdose.[5]

Services

The charity runs a Stepping Stones program that has been researched and produced in collaboration with the Australian Drug Foundation[7] and is an officially recognised publication.[8] Families affected by alcohol and other drug problems are supported by the organisation through Family Support Groups, a 24/7 national support phone line, and other programs.[9] The charity has launched an Online Support Group with Minister Dr David Gillespie [10] through a video resource created in collaboration with Readymade Productions[11] that assists families across the globe supporting problematic use of alcohol and other drugs.[12]
