CFA Society Hong Kong (Chinese: 香港特許金融分析師學會) is a non-profit, non-governmental professional organization in Hong Kong. It was founded in 1992 and was formerly named as The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA).
Its main responsibilities are:
- Promoting the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in Hong Kong.
- Raising the professional and ethical standards of financial analysts in Hong Kong.
- Providing continuing education programs and seminars that qualify for Continuous Professional Training (CPT) hours.
- Providing a forum for financial professionals to exchange insights and best practices.
Relationship with CFA Institute[edit]
CFA Society Community[edit]
CFA Society Hong Kong is one of the 160+ fellow CFA societies around the world that partner with CFA Institute, the organization that offers the CFA designation. Regular member of CFA Institute, or CFA Charterholder, are required to apply to a local society during membership registration.[1]
Global Passport Program[edit]
The CFA Societies Global Passport Program of CFA Institute allows members of participating CFA societies to attend each other's society events at the local member price. CFA Society Hong Kong is a participant of this Global Passport Program.[2]
CFA Institute Research Challenge[edit]
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition in equity research hosted by the CFA Institute in 2007. The competition provides university students with hands-on training and mentoring in financial analysis.[3][4][5][6][7] CFA Society Hong Kong is the host of the Hong Kong Local Final of this Research Challenge since 2005.[8][9][10][11]
Partnership with other institutions[edit]
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)[edit]
In September 2021, CFA Society Hong Kong partnered with The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to provide grant for the CUHK MBA programs or an award for the EMBA program to the Society's members.[12][13]
Wiley[edit]
In December 2021, CFA Society Hong Kong partnered with Wiley, a research and education publisher, to provide CFA exam candidates and members of the Society across Hong Kong and Macau access to educational and professional development materials.[14]
