Father Amin (Arabic: بابا أمين, transliterated Amin baba) is an Egyptian film released in 1950. The directorial debut of a then 24-year-old Youssef Chahine stars Faten Hamama, Hussein Riad, Kamal al-Shennawi, Mary Mounib, Farid Shawqi, and Hind Rostom. The fantasy ghost premise was then unusual in local cinema.[1]
Synopsis[edit]
The film's protagonist is Amin Zuhdi, the father of a young son and a daughter who loves their shy neighbor. Amin wants to get rich quickly and invests all his savings in a business with his friend as a partner. Zuhdi dies but comes back as a ghost to witness his family suffering after the business partner takes all the money and refuses to return it.
