Feardemic sp. z o.o. is a Polish video game publisher with a portfolio of horror-oriented games. Headquartered in Kraków, the company's was founded
as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bloober Team S.A., a publicly traded company and a video game developer of psychological-horror games, however moreover recently the company has added several more investors with Bloober Team retaining control as the majority shareholder. Feardemic publishes predominately games developed by third parties and publishes games on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles.
History[edit]
Work for Hire (WFH games) was established in Krakow on April 23, 2010. The company was established by Piotr Babieno specifically for work for hire assignments, as the name suggests. On April 28, 2017, WFH games was renamed Feardemic with the specific purpose of building the company into an independent publisher of video games. A team was enlisted between 2017 and 2019 to realise the company's goals and the first title, a self-made weekend game jam based on the assets of Observer was released on 13th December 2018. The game was called 2084 and marked the companies first release.
The companies first third-party release was a game called The Padre, developed by Hungarian studio Shotgun with Glitters, in early 2019.
In September 2019 the company released its third title and second third party release called Ritual Crown of Horns. The title was developed by a company Bloober Team held interests in called Draw Distance.
In early 2020 the company experience a re-structure with a new team headed by former Namco Bandai Partners Managing Director Scott Millard.
In 2020 the company signed the publishing rights to DARQ Complete Edition.[1], from Unfold Games, for publishing on current and next-generation consoles. DARQ Complete Edition has been released in digital format in December 2020 and March 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch.
In June 2021 Feardemic signed a publishing agreement with developer Twisted II Studio[2] to publish their first-person psychological horror game Dark Fracture. The game is currently in development for PC, current and past generation Microsoft and Sony consoles, as well as Nintendo Switch.
In August 2021 Scott Millard was appointed president and CEO of the company[3]. Scott Millard succeeded Piotr Babieno and assumed all fiduciary responsibilities from Friday July 30th, 2021. Piotr Babieno continues to be a board member of Feardemic. In addition to his appointment, Scott Millard purchased a stake in the business and is presently the second largest shareholder behind Bloober Team
In October 2021 Feardemic announced an agreement with King’s Pleasure[4], a newly established development studio formed by ex-developers of Cyberpunk 2077, Serial Cleaner and Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, to publish their first game, Cosmic: A Journey Among Shadows, a metroid-vania action-adventure set in a colourful universe populated by weird creatures whom shadows have their own distinctive personalities.
In November 2021 Feardemic, in partnership with Limited Run Games released Collectors and standard editions of DARQ Complete Editions, physical copies in United States on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
In November 2021 Feardemic announced an agreement[5] to publish Terror Endless Night, a game developed by Polish company Unseen Silence.
In November 2021 Feardemic announced an agreement to publish a prequel to its Cathedral 3D PC game entitled Chapel 3D: The Ascension. The game is developed by Polish studio Unfinished Games.
In November 2021 Feardemic announced an agreement with Unfold Games [6] to publish their 2023 title Bloody Hell Hotel.
In November 2021 Feardemic announced its intention to list on the Warsaw Stock exchange [7] via press conference in Poland.
In January 2022 the companies house band The Feardemic Orchestra were added to Spotify
