Featured is an American media and public-relations software company based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company operates a platform that connects subject-matter experts with publishers for Q&A-style content and source requests. In April 2025, Featured acquired the journalist–source service Help a Reporter Out (HARO) from Cision and announced plans to relaunch it.[1]
History
Featured began in 2020 under the name Terkel, founded by Brett Farmiloe following the sale of his previous agency, Markitors.[2] In 2022, the company raised $1 million in seed funding from investors including Stout Street Capital, Sonoran Founders Fund, and Calm Company Fund.[3] The platform rebranded to Featured in 2023.[4]
By mid-2025, total funding had reached approximately $1.95 million from the previously mentioned investors.[5]
In April 2025, Featured acquired the journalist–source service Help a Reporter Out (HARO) from Cision.[1][6]
Acquisition and relaunch of HARO
In 2024, Cision rebranded HARO as Connectively and subsequently discontinued the service on 9 December 2024.[7] Independent trade reporting noted the shutdown for the SEO and PR communities.[8]
On 15 April 2025, Cision announced the sale of the HARO platform to Featured,[9] and Featured stated it would revive HARO under its original brand.[10] Trade publication coverage reported that HARO would return to users as an email-based newsletter beginning 22 April 2025.[1] In an interview, Featured’s CEO also outlined steps intended to reduce spam and AI-generated responses in the revived service.[11]
