The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry was founded by Sir. M. Visvesvaraya in 1916 as the Mysore Chamber of Commerce[2], with W.C. Rose serving as the Chamber's first President. It stands as one of the five foremost chambers in the country and is the oldest parent chamber of any state in India.[citation needed] Currently, the membership at FKCCI stands at 3,000 direct members and more than 250,000 indirect members drawn from all sectors of Trade, Commerce and Industry, spread over Karnataka.[3]

The Federation is a member of national bodies like FICCI, ASSOCHAM and also the International Chamber of Commerce. FKCCI is represented on 38 Boards & Committees constituted by the State and Central Governments and other Statutory Bodies in India.
FKCCI also facilitates collaboration of trade between Karnataka’s industries and overseas enterprises, and also holds talks with international trade entities, among other services, including promotion of international trade, providing expert advice on subjects such as industrial growth, monetary and fiscal policy, etc., create awareness and initiate projects in support of Skill Development and Make in India programmes.[citation needed]
Since 1994, the FKCCI has, to its name, signed 63[citation needed] Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with Indian and International Chambers of Commerce and Agencies.[4][5][6]
FKCCI hosts many events, namely the Export Excellence Awards, the GREEN Summit (Global Renewable Energy Summit), Innovation Excellence Awards for MSMEs.[citation needed]
