. It began in 2006 as an internet radio station at 61 Gainsborough Road, Felixstowe, the home of the founding Chairman Trevor Lockwood. A small team of presenters streamed programmes on the Internet until applying for a Community Radio Licence in late 2008. That was awarded in 2009, after which the station began broadcasting locally on 6 November 2009.[1]

Full time licence[edit]

In 2009, Felixstowe Radio was awarded a Community Radio Licence, which has allowed the station to broadcast in FM Stereo at 25 watts, covering an approximate audience potential of 50,000 people, on 107.5 MHz, seven days a week. Transmissions began in November 2009 from the studio housed in Great Eastern Square beside East of England Co-Operative Society premises in Felixstowe.

Organisation[edit]

Felixstowe Radio is a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee. A team of volunteers look after the premises, serve in the shop, plan shows and many other things required to keep a radio station on air.
