Fernando David Palacio (born March 9, 1990), known by his stage name Fer Palacio, is a Argentine DJ and record producer, and songwriter. His music is often defined as Cachengue, which is a mix between Argentine cumbia and reggaeton. He is known for his club style of Cachengue. Throughout his career, Ferpa has frequently remixed songs originally from Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, and much more.[1]

Early Life[edit]

Fernando David Palacio was born March 9, 1990 in González Catán, Argentina and raised in San Antonio de Padua, in the West Zone of Buenos Aires province. He began to play music while working in a grill factory and as a machinist on the Sarmiento Train, until he decided to open his own bar in Padua so he could do what he liked. He has always been a big fan of Argentine soccer club San Lorenzo de Almagro. The first soccer stadium he recorded was at Estadio Pedro Bidegain.[2]

Music style and influences[edit]

Ferpa points directly to Cachengue, which is a mix between Argentine cumbia and reggaeton. But he is more known for his club style of Cachengue adding more of a modern touch to this genre making it sound more new and fresh. He is one of the pioneers of Cachengue being one of the first producers to take this genre mainstream all over Argentina and boarding countries such as Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, and Bolivia.[1]

Talking about the music he grew up listening to he stated “In my house as a kid, a lot of Argentine rock, Folklore, León Gieco, Los Redondos. When I started to have my own musical tastes, they were first on the side of Argentine cumbia, listening to artists such as Amar Azul, La Nueva Luna, and later on reggaeton ”, summarizes Palacio to talk about his influences.[3]
