Fernando Faria de Castro Brandão was born in Sao Paulo in Jun 15, 1960, graduated in Architecture and Urbanism by FAU / Santos University in 1983.

Works on commercial, corporative and promotional areas and receiving different prizes from IAB, AsBEA, IDEA, RedDot since then.

Was director and vice-president of AsBEA (Brazilian Architecture Association of Architecture Offices).

In 2009 won the Brazilian Pavilion competition for Expo Universal 2010 Shanghai / China. Since 2010 lectures at DeTao Masters Academy in Shanghai / China in partnership with Peking University and Fudan Shanghai University.

In 2012 oppened an office in Shanghai / China inside SIVA, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts.

Cultura Bookstore[edit]

Fernando became famous in Brazil after designing several Cultura Bookstore unities, as the most iconic, the one located at Conjunto Nacional at Paulista Avenue in Sao Paulo.

Jose Saramago wrote:

"La última imagen que nos llevamos de Brasil es la de una hermosa librería, una catedral de libros, moderna, eficaz, bella. Es la Librería Cultura, está en el Conjunto Nacional. Es una librería para comprar libros, claro, pero también para disfrutar del espectáculo impresionante de tantos títulos organizados de una forma tan atractiva, como si no fuera un almacén, como si de una obra de arte se tratara. La Librería Cultura es una obra de arte."[1]
