He undertook the creation of the Torre das Cabras, situated in proximity to Penafiel. The tower exemplifies the concept of a garden folly, defined by its eccentric architecture and profound symbolism. The Torre das Cabras is distinguished by its tripartite structure, characterized by robust stone walls. Its most notable feature is the unique rightward spiral wooden ramp, which enables visitors to ascend the tower in a counterclockwise fashion. This architectural idiosyncrasy adds a layer of enchantment to the tower's character, endowing it with an aura of mystique.

The Tower of the Goats is just one facet of a broader collection of fanciful structures adorning the Aveleda estate, aptly designated as the "Follies." These architectural gems, including the Manuelino-style Window, the Tea House, the Four Sisters Fountain, and the Guard House, share a narrative of whimsy and creativity, each bearing its unique significance.

Francisco Guedes Almeida, a scion of the Guedes family and the 13th generation to oversee the winery, imparts insights into the genesis of these delightful follies. He characterizes them as "artistic daydreams with no functional explanation," brought to life by various forebears who believed that goats deserved a space beyond the plains. To this end, the Goat Tower was erected, symbolizing not just the capriciousness of its creators but also the thematic elements of fertility and abundance, thus imbuing the tower with profound symbolism.
