Fifth Third Center is a 7-story, 91-foot tall office tower located on S. Alpine Road in Rockford, Illinois, United States.[1] It was built in 1968 in a newly-developed commercial area within the east side of Rockford. It is one of the tallest buildings in Rockford outside of the downtown area. The building is home to Fifth Third Bank and contains commercial office spaces.
History[edit]
The building was constructed in 1968 near the intersection of Newburg/Broadway and Alpine Rd., in an area of Rockford adjacent to the city center which had seen burgeoning commercial development within the prior 7 years, notably the Colonial Village Mall, of which opened in 1962 and was located across from the building. At one point, the Fifth Third Bank logo was added to the south-facing wall at the top towards the right, which was later removed in the 2010s for unknown reasons.
