FilipinoCupid.com is an online dating site designed to connect Filipino singles to other singles worldwide. The website was originally launched as FilipinaHeart.com in 2001.[1] before being renamed to FilipinoCupid.com in 2010. It is part of the Cupid Media network of dating sites and is headquartered on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

History[edit]

FilipinoCupid.com was the second dating site launched by Cupid Media in August 2001 under the original URL FilipinaHeart.com.

The Cupid Media parent company was founded in Sydney, NSW by Andrew and Emily Bolton in 2000 with the goal of helping connect singles worldwide through a variety of niche dating sites[2].

The websites are built on Adobe ColdFusion and are available on mobile devices via native HTML5 mobile sites. In December 2016, the Android app for FilipinoCupid[3] was launched in the Google Play Store and currently has 100,000+ installs[3].

Media and Reception[edit]

FilipinoCupid has been featured in numerous media publications and television shows.

In November 2016, TLC show Before the 90 Days featured American Larry and his Filipina wife Jenny after meeting on FilipinoCupid in season one of the show[4]. The show followed Larry on his trip to the Philippines to to meet her family and friends before bringing her to America.

In the second season of Before the 90 Days, another couple who met on FilipinoCupid ; Tarik and Hazel were featured on the show[5]

FilipinoCupid was also featured on the Australian SBS show SBS Insight in 2014[6] that explored interracial marriages in Australia and followed Australia/Filipino couple John and Edelisa Carroll.

A YouGov survey in November 2017[7] found that FilipinoCupid was the most popular Filipino dating site alongside Tinder with six out of 10 respondents knowing the brand.

In 2017, the website was mentioned as part of the criminal case against ex-Stockton mayor Anthony Silva who allegedly used misappropriated government funds to purchase a FilipinoCupid membership[8].
