Find Your Voice (2018) is an Australian/New Zealand produced film that released to the United States in September 2020. The films tagline was "How much would you give to find yourself?".
directed and filmed by Chris Herd. produced by Steve Jaggi (executive producer), Chris Herd (executive producer), Ben Rupp (executive producer), Patrick Rohr (producer), Adam Saunders (producer) along side the production companys Shorething Films (Australia) and The Steve Jaggi Company. it was later distributed by Indican Pictures in 2020 throughout the United States of America. It's total run time was of 1h 39min making it a feature length film.
Script[edit]
Initially written by Chris Herd with the Intent of exploring the similarities and differences of cultures and how that may impact a person belonging to two or more communities. It was later handed off to Matthew Scott (credited as co-writer) who quickly created a lengthy script that was shortened over time by both Chris and Matthew. the film features a half Maori half australian rapper on a journey of self discovery. where they win big in the lottery and set out to travel from sydney Australia to New Zealand They in search of their roots to Grow as both an artist and as a person. Chris herd has stated that Adam saunders who plays the role of the titular Elvis Pineaha was of great help when finalizing the script as they were from both cultures used in the production.
Themes[edit]
The themes throughout the film revolve around family, belonging and culture as many coming of age films do but with the added tension brought in by the addition of "new money"/"get rich quick" that the director found interestingly pervasive.[1]

It went on to win the Maori Film Festival's Narrative Feature World Cinema Award[2] and Grossed $6,019 world wide
