First-person adventure
First-person adventures are a hybrid genre of first person shooters and action-adventures. Games of this genre have a first person perspective, and the player character is usually equipped with a ranged weapon such as a gun, offering the experience of an action game. However, the genre also includes situational problems for the player to solve, as in adventure games and other action-adventures. First-person adventures usually have a strong emphasis on the storyline.
Notable examples of this genre include Metroid Prime[1][2] and Geist
Naming controversy[edit]
First person adventure is sometimes used to describe graphical adventure games with a first person perspective.
