History

Farmers and Merchants National Bank was opened in Abilene, Texas in 1890. The name was changed to First National Bank of Abilene in 1957, and then to First Abilene Bankshares, Inc. in 1973 as a multibank holding company. In October 1993, the name was changed again to First Financial Bankshares, Inc and was listed on The NASDAQ as FFIN. In 2003, the four trust departments from Abilene, Sweetwater, San Angelo, and Stephenville consolidated to form First Financial Trust & Asset Management Company, N.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of First Financial Bankshares. In 2005, First National Bank of Abilene changed its name to First Financial Bank and now has over 78 locations across the state of Texas.[4]
