Five Aside was BBC Radio 5's drive time programme for the majority of the station’s time on air..

The programme was broadcast each weekday between 4.35pm and 7.20pm (7.15pm from September 1991), although the very first edition of the programme was extended until 7.40pm to carry commentary on the 1990 European Athletics Championships[1] although during the summer months, live sports coverage meant that the programme often started at a later time and on some occasions, it wasn't broadcast at all.

Described as "reflecting life in the UK,[2] the programme also featured regular news and sport updates as well as a broad mix of music.

Initially hosted by Martin Kelner, Sue McGarry and Julian Worricker took over as the programme's presenters at the start of 1991.

The programme ended six months before Radio 5 was replaced by BBC Radio 5 Live when a new show, John Inverdale's Drive-In, was launched on 25 October 1993.[3]
