The Samara city district's flag is a rectangular cloth of three equal horizontal stripes (red, white and blue) with the coat of arms of the city of Samara. On the blue band, under the arms, is the inscription "Samara" in the Cyrillic in gold letters. The ratio of width to length of the flag is 1:2. The coat of arms of the city of Samara is depicted on the flag in the center. The ratio of the height and width of the emblem to the width and length of the flag is respectively 1:2 and 1:7. The distance from the top edge of the flag to the coat of arms is 1⁄7 of the flag's width. The distance from the lower edge of the flag to the base of the inscription is 1⁄7 of the flag's width. The height of the capital letter is the height of the crown. The height of the lowercase letters is 1⁄10 of the flag's width. The flag of Samara was approved by the city council on 30 December 1998.[1]
