The Florence Academy of Russian Art is an art academy located in Florence. It was founded in 2009 by the academy's Russian director Nadezha Molugova.[1] The Florence Academy of Russian Art is an approved member of the Art Renewal Center.[2] The Florence Academy of Russian Art (old name: Russian Academy of Art in Florence) offers programs and classes on classical art in Florence Italy. [3]
The academy's mission is to offer a deep understanding of techniques through an integrated academic approach. The academy teaches fundamental methods and principles of classical art that have been transmitted over centuries since the Italian Renaissance.[4] The teaching method was developed 300 years ago by Russian artists including Ilya Repin, Vasily Surikov, Valentin Serov, Isaak Levitan, Viktor Vasnetsov and Arkhip Kuindzhi.[2]The Florence Academy of Russian Art (old name Russian Academy of Art in Florence) is one of the traditional art schools that has been established in recent years. [5]
Key Subjects[edit]
The Florence Academy of Russian Art focuses on teaching drawing, painting, composition, anatomy and restoration. The studies in the academy also include classes related to perspective, chromatics, constructive drawing and studying the works of the old masters.[6] The students follow different classes daily and there are also optional classes in the evening. In addition students can go around Florence to study some of the Masterpieces in the museums or do plain air painting. [7]
The academy collaborated with the Palazzo Pitti in a realization of a restoration and conservation project in 2016-2017. The academy restored an original painting by a Florentine artist Pietro Dandini, 1646-1712 from Galleria Palatina at the Palazzo Pitti to its former splendor.[8]
