Florida State Road 862 is a 28-mile-long road separated into 3 segments: From its southwestern terminus until I 75, from I 75 to Eller Drive, and Eller Drive/Port Everglades to SR A1A. From its southwestern terminus until Griffin Road, it is known as Dykes Road. From SR 818 (Griffin Road) until I-75, it is known as Weston Road, and is concurrent with Alligator Alley, and eventually, Port Everglades Expressway (I 595/SR 84). After McIntosh Road, I 595's terminus, it continues as Eller Drive, and eventually as Eisenhower Boulevard, although mainly, usage for Eisenhower Boulevard is restricted due to it being an access road to Port Everglades, the United States' ninth largest port by exports and imports. Passport control is also active in Eller Drive and Eisenhower Boulevard, so most people detour through US 1/SR 5 and/or SR 811A.
Route Description
Dykes Road
SR 862 begins at the gated community Riviera Isles. Although this part is maintained by the gated community and eventually the city until it reaches Miramar Parkway, a half mile from the county line.
